DESCRIPTION:It’s a chance to lazily hang out on your boat or on your own shore and at the same time meet your fellow cottagers\, perform challenges\, get treats\, win prizes for creativity and wrap it all up after on the lake in a flotilla of boats. \nAt 1 pm\, as a boat\, you and your boat mates will begin anywhere on the lake\, travelling in any direction at a slow speed\, dock to dock. For those cottages with an upright paddle\, you can stop and visit and do a challenge that the cottage may have in store for the boat’s participants. Prizes will be awarded on the flotilla at 4:30pm. \nPrizes!  \nAll kids will get a participation prize! \nSpirit Award: decorate your boat\, have a team costume or some other creative aspect! Most creative shore game\, most creative boat\, most creative individual costume (shore or boat). Let us know your input by email! \nAny Special Mention Awards: Did you notice someone preserve\, do the best at your challenge\, or show some courage. Let us know your input by email! \nThe commodore may add anything at whim! \nRules \n\n“Boat” means any floating vessel with any number of people. So pontoon\, canoe\, motorboat\, kayak\, paddle boat\, paddleboard etc.\n“Dock” means any shoreline property and does not have to be a physical dock. An upright paddle planted somewhere visible will signal accepting boat participants.\n1pm you may begin to approach a dock. Horn will sound too.\n4pm is wrap up \n4:30pm flotilla and awards\nAdvanced registration for dock or boat is not required.\nOpen to anyone\, including resort guests. Free event.\n\nRespect & Responsibilities \n\nYou are responsible for following all provincial boating rules\, which include all safety equipment\, wake rules etc.\nNo littering! See the commodore boat if you need a trash bag.\nTravel back to your own cottage if you need to use a bathroom.\nBe extremely respectful of people’s docks\, properties\, and boats!\nPoor sportsmanship is frowned upon.\nUse extra care given the number of boats that may be on the lake and be aware of your surroundings at all times. DESCRIPTION:As a fresh take on a tradition from years gone by\, the OLA is organizing an all-ages Community Dance & Social which will take place at the Oxtongue Lake Community Centre on Saturday\, August 5th\, from 7:30pm – 12:30am. This outdoor event will provide an opportunity for community members to meet and engage with neighbours from every bay on the lake\, and will include a DJ\, a dance floor\, and a cash bar with refreshments (beer\, wine\, soft drinks) and light snacks. Additionally\, we’ll be providing a complimentary bus service around the lake to help everyone get to and from the dance safely. More details to follow in the coming weeks. \nAll are welcome\, from house guests to resort guests\, however\, in order to get a better gauge on the level of interest\, and so we can plan accordingly with sufficient food/drinks\, we’re requesting that you purchase your tickets for the Community Dance & Social in advance. \nTickets are available for purchase. Online has closed but will be available at the door. \n\nAdults: 19 and over – $10 (Includes one drink ticket)*\nMinors: 18 and under – FREE\n\n* Note: All Adult ticket holders (with proof of age verified at the event) will receive one included drink ticket which can be redeemed for either: 1 beer or 1 glass of wine or 2 soft drinks upon check-in at the event. Bracelets will be provided to all Adult ticket holders and will be required for the purchase of alcohol. \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\nBus Schedule Our goals were to be convenient\, efficient\, predictable and flexible. Hopefully\, we have achieved this. \n7pm-9pm. On the half-hour loops start from the end of Harris Road to the Community Centre and back.9:30-12:30am. On the half-hour loops start from the community centre to the end of Harris Road and back. \nThe bus will stop at designated bus stops which are listed below for pick-ups and drop-offs. We hope to stay as close as possible to this schedule for the evening. The last bus will leave the community centre at 12:30am. \n\nOn every loop\, as the bus heads toward the community centre it will stop when it sees people to pick up at a designated bus stop\, and as it heads away from the community centre\, it will drop people off at a designated bus stop. \n\nBus Stops: \n\n\nEnd of Harris Road (eg. 7pm/7:30) (eg. 9:50/10:20)\nBoat Launch\n1538 Harris Road\nWindy Point & Thumb Creek\n1214 Harris Road\nParkway\nAlgonquin Outfitters\nLakewoods\nCommunity Centre (eg. 7:20pm/7:50) (eg. 9:30/10pm)\n\n\nFor Severn Lane and Keysbury Dr\, please get in touch with us at ola@oxtonguelake.com to hear a separate plan. While we are not running a personalized taxi service\, however\, if you do have a special request because you are just a bit too far to walk to a designated bus stop\, reach out to us ahead of time too. \nThe bus driver can make some minor judgements along the route; however\, please don’t try to sweet-talk him to go down the artery roads. We don’t want it getting stuck turning around\, making the loop much longer and less predictable for everyone. \nTickets\, Food & DrinkFor advanced ticket purchasers\, someone will be on the first few bus loops to check your name on the list\, verify your ID\, and give you a bracelet and drink tickets. All others will need to do upon arrival at the community centre. Online ticket sales will close on Saturday at 5pm. We encourage everyone to buy online ahead of time. \nCash and Credit Cards are accepted for all tickets\, food and drink. \nDrink Tickets are $5 for one glass of wine or beer or 2 non-alcoholic drinks. Anyone may purchase drink tickets but can only redeem them for alcohol if they are wearing a bracelet. \nAlgonquin Pizza & Panini will be onsite selling pizza\, wings and other food items. \nA 50/50 draw will run all day. \nWe appreciate your patience for the evening in making this a fun community event for multiple ages. It may end up with a few glitches\, but people make a party\, so come on out to have fun with your neighbours. \nAnd don’t forget it’s outside only! So dress appropriately!
