AN INTRODUCTION TO THE BEHIND-THE-SCENES PHOTOS OF THE G8

These pictures were taken inside the “CAZ” Controlled Access Zone which was within the Deerhurst area for the G8. The West Gate was at Canal Rd. and the East Gate was at the base of the Hidden Valley Ski Hill. Any personnel or vehicles had to have the proper credentials and go through “airport” like X-ay screening and all vehicles had to be “sweeped” with mirrors and dog’s. Most vehicles that were inside the CAZ had to stay there. There were about a dozen residents who elected to stay home inside the CAZ and were not able to have their vehicle inside. If they needed to go anywhere they would call a dispatch number and be picked up at their house by Toronto Tours and brought to the East Gate. Once there they would take another Toronto Tours vehicle to their car or to town to run erruns. The same was for all the Deerhurst employees who had to get to work and back home.
When a Motorcade or a helicopter with world leaders came towards the zone, all activity had to stop immediately. All vehicles, people, golf carts had to stop where they are till the all clear was given.
All food was provided to anyone inside the CAZ at the large white tent at the base of the HV ski hill.
It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and fun to do.
